Phase 2 Base Area Development Plan
Phase 2 will include the construction on the new multi-level parking structure with some limited skier service functions at the parking structure. A Cabriolet lift will connect the parking structure with the daylodges that are part of the Phase 1 development.
Phase 2 Base Area Description
The Phase 2 Base Area Development Plan (Figure 25 (JPG | PDF) ), Base Area Grading and Drainage Plans (Figure 27 (JPG | PDF) ) provide building grades for the parking structure and the finished floor elevations (FFE) for each skier service building including all of the Phase 1 development. These graphic illustrations show how the skier service buildings, main skier drop-off and day skier parking areas relate to each other at the end of the Phase 2 development. The drawings also show the relationship between the main arrival area, parking structure, Cabriolet and other resort recreational activity zones, access lifts and the ski slopes.
In Phase 2, arrival and access to the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort daylodge, skier services and staging areas begins at the new parking structure located adjacent to the highway at the north end of the site. The capacity of new 3.5-level structure will accommodate all required parking through build-out of the planned resort development, alleviating current parking congestion and circulation issues and the need for remote parking lots and shuttle service. Visitors can then either walk back to the parking structure and utilize the Cabriolet to transport them to the daylodge or walk past the maintenance facility and use the magic carpets to gain access to the daylodge and other skier services located at the bottom of Lifts 1 and 2.
The new parking structure has been designed without internal circulation ramps. Each individual parking level has a dedicated, at grade entry resulting in a smaller parking structure footprint, as show on Figure 28 (JPG | PDF) . Connection to the daylodge and main skier staging area is via a new detachable Cabriolet originating at the southeast corner of the parking structure and terminating approximately 200 feet north of the new daylodge buildings.
In order to improve the arrival, access and staging process related to the parking structure in Phase 2, we have planned for a 1,250 square foot skier service building, located beside the north terminal of the Cabriolet. This small building will provide ticket sales, restrooms and resort information services. Approximately 1.5 levels below the Cabriolet terminal is a secondary exit leading to a 600-foot pathway connection to the new tube park located north of the maintenance area.
